Fat transfer (or “fat grafting”) for body contouring is a safe, minimally invasive treatment option with the goal of achieving natural lift, volume, and definition, as well as correcting bodily disproportions and indentations.
What Happens During a Fat Transfer Procedure?
At Beautify at AMS in Chicago, fat transfers are begun with liposuction. Depending on how much fat will be removed, liposuction can be performed with the patient under either local or general anesthesia. Small incisions will be created near the part of the body where fat is being removed. This is typically the stomach, thighs, or buttocks. The incisions are so small that once they’ve healed, they are barely visible. They are made to allow access for the cannula to loosen up and remove the fat.
Equipped with custom-designed cannulas that allow for the greatest precision, your surgeon will extract the cleanest, most viable fat possible from your body. This fat will then be purified using our Puregraft® microfiltration system, which removes any contaminants, oil, debris, or blood. The fat is then enriched with stem cells, ACell® (a stem cell stimulant), growth factors, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to enhance results. The purified and enriched fat is then placed into a syringe and injected into the targeted area(s) to add volume, definition, and contour where needed. Our fat transfer procedures are typically used in combination with Sculptra® injections to ensure long-term improvement and provide additional volume and definition.
