Why Choose Rhinoplasty?

Whether you’ve had a life-long problem with the appearance your nose or it has just recently begun to bother you, a rhinoplasty (more commonly known as a “nose job”) has the ability to correct your areas of concern and shape a nose that better fits your face.

What Can a Nose Job Do?

  • Reduce the size of an overly large nose
  • Correct a nasal bump
  • Achieve more projection for a “stubby” nose
  • Straighten a crooked or broken nose
  • Decrease the size of overly large nostrils
  • Correct problems with the nasal tip
  • Deliver an overall more balanced facial appearance

The Importance of a Specialist

When looking at rhinoplasty, Chicago's team of plastic surgeons at Beautify at AMS consider functional issues as much as cosmetic concerns. In many cases, our patients happen to be suffering from an airway obstruction that both inhibits their ability to breathe easily and compromises the look of their nose.

The nose must be addressed as a single unit because each nasal revision or enhancement impacts all other parts of the nose. Therefore, it’s imperative that you only work with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has an extensive knowledge of facial anatomy to perform this intricate and sensitive procedure.

Our Approach to Cosmetic Nose Surgery

Traditionally, cosmetic nose surgery was performed with incisions made on the inside of the nose. However, another approach that is very safe and proven is the open rhinoplasty, which involves a small, discreet incision made under the nose and allows for optimal exposure. Visualizing the anatomy of the nose is paramount in order to analyze the internal airway, precisely contour the cartilage, and potentially shave down the bone at the bridge of the nose. Septal reconstruction is often included as part of the surgery to improve the outward appearance of the nose. Performed by our plastic surgeons from the University of Illinois at Chicago, nose surgery assists in not only the appearance of the nose, but functionality as well.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty from Beautify at AMS

For patients with hollows, bumps, or deformities in the nasal tip or bridge, we can typically perform a non-surgical rhinoplasty using hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. This adds volume and height; contours the nose, and enhances the appearance of the nose without surgery. In this area, fillers such as Juvéderm Voluma or Juvéderm Volbella can also improve skin texture and smooth out lines, folds, and wrinkles due to long-term collagen production. Surgical procedures, such as rib grafts and nasal implants, can complement dermal fillers to provide additional contouring and volume if necessary. So, if you'd prefer, a nose job at Chicago's Beautify at AMS can be done without any surgery at all.

Will I be able to drive myself home after nose surgery?

If you are having a surgical rhinoplasty, you’ll need to arrange a ride home following the procedure because of the anesthesia.

Is it okay to blow my nose after nose surgery?

Although you will feel congested during recovery, it’s important that you try your best to avoid blowing your nose for two weeks in order to prevent nosebleeds. A good nasal rinse can help clear up congestion instead.

What is the most common age to undergo a nose job?

Rhinoplasty can be very beneficial and rewarding for nearly any age, but it’s very important that the patient is truly confident in their choice to have it done. Anyone whose nose is fully developed can have rhinoplasty done. For females, the nose is usually fully developed by age 16, and for males by age 17.
